RAISE THE ROOF:
singing from the heart ... reaching for the soul.

Raise the Roof
Started twelve years ago by Barb Jungr Raise the Roof has been led for the last seven years by Melanie Harrold.

Raise the Roof has grown into  a vibrant community of singers whose enthusiasm and sheer pleasure in singing together and for others, comes resonating through the wide and rich variety of songs that they perform.

Spontaneity and organic connection to breath, song, sound and rhythm are the key factors which  thread through  this wonderful and ever expanding group of singers.

The Singing River
Raise the Roof joined choirs from throughout London  singing down the River Thames on a forty foot barge in celebration of the re-opening of The Royal Festival Hall under the directorship of Orlando Gough.  On arriving at the Festival Hall Raise the Roof joined in a mass singing of celebration and welcome through music specially composed by Orlando and also in the magnificent Georgian traditional song Aslanuri Mralvalzhamier.
